Julie Turner Beard is a lifelong resident of Montgomery. Mrs. Beard retired from the Montgomery Public School system following 28 years of service. During her tenure with MPS, she taught in both the elementary and high school settings, and served as a coach and activities director, as well. For the last 13 years, Mrs. Beard has taught and been an activities director in the private school sector.

Beard is a graduate of Auburn University and received her master’s degree from Troy University. Throughout her teaching career, Mrs. Beard has been committed to developing children academically and strengthening relationships with their families. Her strong communication and organizational skills, along with her commitment to mentoring families throughout her educational career, make her a true asset for the Montgomery Housing Authority. Mrs. Beard is involved with community service to the Montgomery Area Food Bank, LifeSouth, Montgomery Cancer Center, Autism Society, and the Montgomery Zoo. She is a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Beard and her husband have been married for 25 years with a combined family of four sons, all of which graduated from Montgomery Public Schools and eight grandchildren.
