Housing Choice Voucher
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is a federally funded rental assistance program for low-income families, the elderly, and disabled. The HCV Program provides eligible families an opportunity to broaden their housing options in the private rental market. The Montgomery Housing Authority (MHA) administers 2878 HCV vouchers in Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery Counties. MHA also provides Project-Based rental assistance where the rental assistance is tied to a specific unit. In addition, MHA has several special purpose voucher programs including, Homeownership and Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH).
- Currently on the HCV program waiting list
- Meet income limits specified by HUD
- Pass a criminal background screening
- Not owe any funds to MHA or another Housing Authority
The HCV waiting lists (project-based and tenant-based) are currently closed. MHA will publish a notice in the local newspaper of general circulation, minority media, and other suitable media outlets that MHA is reopening the waiting list.
